Resources for faculty

Teaching can present different needs and challenges at different stages of a course. Since teaching is an iterative process, we conceptualize the process in a cycle, as illustrated below. To find resources that can be useful in a particular course stage, use the “Teaching Cycle” filters below. In addition, the “Foundations” category offers resources that are essential for developing knowledge and practices of inclusive teaching. Alternatively, search resources by using the “Topics” filters.

Throughout the term
This case study was created primarily for those who are involved in teaching in higher education (e.g., faculty, instructors, TAs) to explore various trans-inclusive teaching practices and how they can apply to instructor-TA relationships.
Setting your classroom climate
This resource offers some steps you might take to develop a more trans-inclusive environment, as a part of a larger process of creating more inclusive learning spaces. You can implement these ideas regardless of whether you know there are trans students in your class (you may not even know they are there!).
Foundations
This online resource helps students, staff, and faculty learn about different aspects of gender diversity and find information about UBC’s systems, policies, and practices.
